This beloved SUV has a spacious interior that's capable of comfortably seating up to seven people. Everyone will be able to stretch out during the ride with 42.9 inches of front legroom, 39.5 inches of second-row legroom, and 33.3 inches of rear legroom.
Behind the back seats, there's 21 cubic feet of cargo room in the trunk. With convenient folding seats in both the second and third rows, you can give yourself up to 81.7 cubic feet of cargo room.
Moving up to the front, you'll find a helpful dashboard monitor for your infotainment system. It's equipped with Ford SYNC® and can help you with everything from navigation to hands free calls to entertainment. Both Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ are available. Plus, the whole system is easy to use with voice control.
Ford Explorer Performance
You'll have three trusted engines to choose from with the Ford Explorer. Each one of works with a dynamic 6-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission.
The base one is a 3.5L V6 with Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT). This helps the engine get a more efficient performance and maximize power. It's capable of getting up to 290 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque.
The next available engine gives you a more turbocharged drive with a 2.3L EcoBoost® I-4 engine that gets up to 280 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.
The largest and most powerful engine is another member of the Ford EcoBoost® series. It's a 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 that gets up to 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.
Ford Explorer Towing Capacity
With that kind of power under the hood the Ford Explorer is capable of getting you through any conditions. It's also ready to carry even more cargo. It has a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds to help you bring everything from a couple dirt bikes to a camper or a boat with you on your next trip.
During your drive there, you'll have peace of mind that everything you're hauling will stay safe and stable. Trailer Sway Control is standard and monitors your drive. If it detects your trailer drifting to the side it will apply corrective braking to get it back in line with your SUV.
Ford Explorer Trims
The Ford Explorer is available in five different trim levels: Explorer, XLT, Limited, Sport, and Platinum. As you go look through each one, you'll see that more and more features like a larger infotainment screen, leather seats, heated seats, and a hands-free foot-activated liftgate become available or standard on higher trim levels.
There are also different powertrains for different trims. On one end you'll find the more efficient engines in the XLT and Limited, while the Sport and Platinum trims come standard the most power under the hood.
