Reliable SUVs like the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V are made to offer you a dependable ride whether you're running errands, taking a road trip, or hitting some off-road trails. So, which one is right for you?
Beatrice Ford put together this Ford Escape vs. Honda CR-V comparison to help drivers in Beatrice, Lincoln, and Ceresco decide.
Ford Escape vs Honda CR-V: Performance
Both the Ford Escape and Honda CR-V offer you a choice between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, as well as a few options for what you can have under the hood.
The Escape has three available engines. The most powerful option is a 2.0L EcoBoost® I-4 that gets up to 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. This works with a 6-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission that gives you the freedom to personalize your drive by manually changing gears without a clutch.
The Honda CR-V only offers two engines, and the largest one isn't nearly as powerful. It's a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that gets 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. Its Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is efficient but doesn't let you take control of the gears.
Ford Escape vs Honda CR-V: Capability
The Ford Escape uses its power and versatile all-wheel drive to help you move your heaviest cargo and all your passengers through any conditions.
With its 7.9-inch ground clearance and Roll Stability Control, it's always ready to go off-roading. Plus, its strong lineup of engines can help you bring an ATV or some dirt bikes with you. It has a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds.
Whenever you're towing something, you can be confident that your cargo is safe and in line with your SUV. Trailer Sway Control monitors your cargo and uses corrective braking to keep everything stable.
While the Honda CR-V is also available in all-wheel drive, it doesn't offer as much capability. Its ground clearance is slightly less at 7.8 inches and it doesn't have Roll Stability Control or Trailer Sway Control. You also won't be able to tow as much with its 1,500-pound towing capacity.
Ford Escape vs Honda CR-V: Infotainment System
The Ford Escape and Honda CR-V each focus on giving you an informed and entertaining drive. In the Escape you can enjoy the flexibility of the Ford SYNC® 3 infotainment system on an 8-inch touchscreen on your dashboard.
The system has voice recognition, so you can control your navigation system, change your music, or take hands-free calls without taking your hands off the wheel.
You'll have lots of music options, too, with SiriusXM® Satellite Radio. You can also sync your smartphone through a USB port or Bluetooth® and access Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™, or your Spotify® playlists through AppLink®.
Streaming and staying connected to your favorite social media is easy inside the Ford Escape thanks to a built in 4G LTE Wi-Fi® hotspot that can connect up to 10 devices at once.
The Honda CR-V also provides you with navigation, Bluetooth®, and Apple CarPlay™, but its screen is smaller at only 7 inches and it doesn't offer AppLink® or Wi-Fi®.
