2022 Ford Maverick Performance
The 2022 Maverick is the first-ever standard full-hybrid truck, combining a 2.5L four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission and electric motor to achieve an estimated 40 mpg in the city—more than many small sedans. With the 191-horsepower hybrid engine, Maverick can haul up to 1,500 pounds and tow up to 2,000 pounds.
Tecumseh drivers seeking even capability can opt for the available non-hybrid 2.0L EcoBoost® turbo-four (250 hp, 277 lb-ft of torque) that boosts Maverick's max towing capacity to 4,000 pounds. The turbocharged 2.0L engine comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel or all-wheel drive.
The 2022 Maverick can also be configured for adventures away from the asphalt with the FX4 Off-Road package. Maverick FX4 models include rugged equipment like all-terrain tires, skid plates, tow hooks, Hill Descent Control, and five selectable drive modes (Normal, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Mud & Ruts, Sand).
2022 Ford Maverick Utility and Accommodations
The Maverick's new FlexBed™ design offers a unique organizational system that's easy to customize to fit your purposes, with a slotted rail system, up to ten tie-downs, and a multi-position tailgate that can extend the bed from 4.5 feet to 6 feet. The FlexBed™ comes standard with a 12V power outlet, and 110-volt household-style outlets are available in both the bed and the cabin.
While it's technically designated as a "compact" pickup, the 2022 Ford Maverick is surprisingly spacious, providing comfortable accommodations for five passengers. Plus, a rear underseat compart provides extra storage space and a place to hide your belongings from view.
